Lavandin essential oil

Lavandin essential oil is distilled from the cut hybrid. The French heritage record calls it very camphoraceous and of lower quality than fine lavender’s oil, and says lavandin gives almost three times as much of it.

Its yield is not shown as a figure, and no constituent is on record.

The record

Each field carries its evidence: open a chip for the source, the quoted words and the confidence. A field with nothing behind it says so and stays empty.

    • softened · lavandin gives almost three times as much essential oil as fine lavender, and a good deal of what is sold as “lavender” is lavandin. (was: lavandin produces 10 times the essential oil per hectare. Much of what is sold as “lavender” in the market is lavandin.)

HV-4 says “quasiment trois fois plus d’huile essentielle” (HV-4), which contradicts the old “10 times” and supports “far more”; the market sentence (“a good deal of what is sold”) has no source. the house’s review (2026-09-30, the copy pass): “almost three times as much” restored with HV-4 (HV-4); the market sentence stays unsourced
