α-terpineol

α-Terpineol, C10H18O, is the one constituent of lavender oil the French heritage record names: the growers leave the cut lavender to wilt so that the oil is less rich in it, and so of better quality.

No share is given: the record names the molecule and measures nothing.

PubChem’s computed 3D conformer of α-terpineol (CID 17100, conformer 000042CC00000001): the shape a computer model gives the molecule, not an experimental structure and not a picture of a real molecule. Ball and stick: 10 carbon, 1 oxygen; the 18 hydrogen atoms are left out for clarity. The balls are drawn smaller than the atoms’ real reach; a double bond is two sticks, side by side.
