A resinoid is generally obtained by solvent extraction of dry botanical matter, gums, balsams or resins. It emphasises the low, enveloping register: balsamic warmth, texture and slow diffusion. Decolourisation reduces visual pigments and can reveal a cleaner-toned aromatic profile.

Short-path distillation reduces residence time under high vacuum, helping separate lighter and heavier fractions while limiting heat stress.
Decolourisation records treatment to reduce colour. It may also alter composition, so colourlessness is not presented as proof of purity.
